“Venite
ad me omnes”

For the Christian
community, the door of the
Church is a constant reminder of the
unity and universality of the people of God chosen and called by
Christ the Lord who recapitulates and transfigures the whole
creation and all of human history (cf. Benedizionale, nn.1434-1435).

The center of the
whole artwork of the portal towards which all other figures converge is the
image of "the Good Shepherd." Risen in glory,
Jesus the Lord continues
to invite all: “Venite ad me
omnes” (Mt 11,28). Blessed James Alberione had this appeal
at heart and wanted that it resound unceasingly to the people of
the new century.

The olive
branch accompanies the movement of the people of the Old
Covenant in which the pagans, the wild olive branch, are grafted
(cf Rm 11:17). It is in this that we have the "meeting" between
the new and the old, between the apostles of the old and new
times, all journeying together towards Christ, on the way to the
heavenly Jerusalem.
