PDDM India: Seminar for sisters ministering to the sick and elderly priests

From 20 to 22 July 2012, the Indian Province organized a seminar for sisters ministering to the sick and elderly priests as nurses and / or engaged in alternative therapies. Its aim was to deepen the vision of our ministry to priests and at the same time, facilitate a better understanding of the psychological and religious dimensions of this particular mission. During the session of introduction Sr. Rose Mary spoke of the values of the priestly ministry in our Rule of Life, which was further developed by Sr. Kanikai Mary Isaac, provincial superior. 

The resource person, dr. Gnanaprakash, elaborated on the psychological approach to the sick and elderly persons, emphasizing the need to be close to them in their loneliness and pain.

Father Joy Inchodi from the Order of St. Camillus, led the discussion on the religious value of suffering with Christ and on our role of being like Mary at the foot of the suffering Christ supporting the other through our presence and prayers.

The two-day seminar ended with a visit to the Bennerghatta Holistic Centre.
