On the 11th of July 2010, in the
Chapel of the Divine Master, Dublin, the sisters of the Irish Delegation
gathered with other members of the Pauline Family, relatives, friends
and co-operators of the community to celebrate 50 years of fidelity of
Sr. M. Paul O' Brien in religious life. The celebration of the Eucharist
was presided over by Fr. Eamonn Monson, SAC, whom in his homily
presented the analogy of the diamond as an instrument which God used to
engrave his name on the heart of Sr. Paul with her vocation. A diamond
is very hard and can cause great pain and wounds, so too can love, but
it is worth risking. Sr. Paul shared her joy with the assembly to have
arrived at this milestone, underlining the enormous support which she
always received from her family and sisters.
The liturgy was rendered symbolic and beautiful with various signs and
gestures, among which was a dance which accompanied the entrance
procession with two Indian sisters, Sr. M. Veena and Sr. M. Florence,
sprinkling rose petals. At the moment of the 'Our Father' the assembly
joined hands, sign of the unity of the family and community, a bond of
love in Christ which is made visibile in the person of Sr. Paul. After
the celebration of the Eucharist, the day continued with a time of
joyful fraternity with the presence of family, friends and community
members. Let us continue to thank the Divine Master who had called,
guided, and enlightened Sr. Paul with the gift of fidelity in her love,
asking to bless her with health and holiness.
