                                                                           Vocation stories: Sr. Eugenia

Country of origin: Italy

I felt a strong inner calling urging me to become a missionary sister since I was a little girl. My grandmother introduced me to the Disciples of the Divine Master through one of our sisters called Mother Augusta who had asked her if she had any granddaughters interested in religious life.

The Eucharist and the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is what always has given me support for my life of consecration and missionary spirit. The most difficult part is the struggle of faith in life’s journey, to believe constantly though not seeing or feeling anything…Only Grace does it!

Some key moments in my religious life have been the celebration of my Silver and Golden Jubilee of Profession. They were indeed moments of joyful thanksgiving of God’s faithful love.

My greatest joy has always been that of “passing by trying to do good” to as many people as possible in Italy, in the United States of America, in Ireland and wherever our Master will send me.

After 57 years of religious life, I can heartily encourage anyone who feels called to this life to focus always and only on Jesus our Master and Lord, on’ what He is calling you to do for Him’, more so than  ‘on what you want to do’.

Remember Jesus tells us: “Fear not, I am with you always” . This is also the motto given us by Blessed James Alberione, the Founder of the Pauline Family, to be before us in all our chapels. So this has been and continues to be the source of my trust and hope in the fulfilment of my vocation and mission.
