St. John Vianney House
Home for Retired Priests

St. John Vianney House is situated alongside the local Parish Church dedicated to the Sacred Heart and also the National Seminary of the Holy Cross. It lies opposite to the Sisters’ residence. Interreligious dialogue is kept in view since across the house is also the local Mosque.

The House was blessed and opened on 25th of November 2001, the Solemnity of Christ the King.  Bishop Patrick Dunn, Bishop of Auckland, has asked the PDDM sisters to assist in the day-to-day running of the house, inspired by what he saw years ago in the Home for the Retired Priests in Melbourne, Australia. He said that the sisters do not just render a ‘caring presence’ but most of all, are a ‘spiritual presence.’ The house then becomes a spiritual ‘oasis’ for all.
