General Introduction
This program contains three major Tracks which correspond to the three
stages of the Alberionian Method of Spiritual Discernment in his work
Donec Formetur in Christus Vobis (Until Christ is Formed in You). In
brief, the three stages consist of (i) Purification of the mind/memory,
(ii) Enlightenment of the heart and its desires; (iii) Unification of
the will and energies for a serious decision to follow Christ as his
disciple. They aim to help the discerner go through a process of
noticing, unfolding and discovering the mysterious and dynamic life of
the Holy Trinity (the Father -the Son- and the Spirit) in his / her
life. In the Christological dimension, the program aims to arrive at
the “complete formation” of the human person into “an-other” Christ,
letting Jesus become “the Way, the Truth and the Life” of his or her
earthly journey. Hence the program intends to lead the discerner to
attain a trustful, free and mature response to the love, the desire
and the will of God... until Christ himself is formed in the person.
The first stage, the Purification of the mind/memory or PURGATIVE
STAGE aims to give GLORY TO THE FATHER by overcoming the Stage of
Superficiality. It consists of: developing the SENSE OF WONDER vs.
indifference (Silence of God...); PAYING ATTENTION vs. overlooking
(The Master Lover....); saying YES (the assent of Mary...) vs. denial;
learning to TRUST vs. remaining in suspicion.
The second stage, the ILLUMINATIVE STAGE aims to give GLORY TO THE SON
and points to the Time of Enlightenment. This stage is characterized
by profound reliance on God while continuing the learning initiated in
track 1. In this stage the discerner begins to recognize the beauty
and humanity of Jesus Christ. The process followed in this stage
consists of: SLOW DANCE (Desiring and dancing our way back to God
through Jesus) vs. sitting on the sidelines; TOUCH AND GO vs.
repelling Christ’s attraction; KISS TO LIFE vs. running away
The third stage, the UNITIVE STAGE aims to give GLORY TO THE SPIRIT
and invites the person to “have” A Taste of Heaven. Through the help
of the Holy Spirit, one aims to reach a stage of intimacy where one
allow Christ to live fully in him/her. This is the experience of St.
Paul and the saints: one in heart, body, mind and soul with the Master
Lover. The process followed in this stage consists of: AN AUTHENTIC
PASSION vs. false desire; FREEDOM AND SURRENDER vs. fighting/resistance;
EMPOWERING THE HEART'S DESIRE vs. separation and passivity.
As a journey in itself, the tracks will have a continuous flow of
themes that are connected from beginning to end, like a whole story of
God's love to humanity. Each sub-track will have 5 main parts as
constants and some minor parts to give emphasis, explain and deepen an
important point. It will also include some proposed activities and
songs. The 5 main parts are made up of an Introduction, The Story of
God (Scriptural Foundation), The Story of James Alberione (Charismatic
Foundation), My Story (Anthropological Foundation) and Conclusion and
Prayer.
