1. TRACK 1 A JOURNEY OF PURIFICATION GLORY TO THE FATHER
(THE TRUTH)
The journey of purification begins with a meditation on the
relationship between God and the human person. In discovering the
great wonder of God who is love, the human person realizes her/ his
own sinfulness and weaknesses, and a deep longing of perfect happiness
with the Lover who is God springs from the heart. Purification
therefore is a process of breaking away from superficialities and
ego-defences, of detachment from sinful inclinations, wrongful habits
and selfish affections. Purification is recovering one’s original
beauty and goodness as a human person and as a child of God who is
made in His own image.
The stage of superficiality consists in the important elements needed
to help the discerner acquire a profound disposition in order to
perceive the desire and will of God, and in distinguishing the
obstacles which affect choices and decisions. The main objective of
this stage of spiritual discernment is to lead the searcher to answer
two important and basic questions: 1) Who is God? 2) Who Am I?
In this purification stage, five sub-tracks are created which aim
towards discerning life choices.
1.1 In the Silence of God (Noticing the wonder of God in silence)
Prayer, silent listening, noticing, admiration, faith, humility and
purification are necessary to put a person in a proper disposition as
he/she starts her/ his journey of discernment. Here, the discerner is
led to discover and know more about the loving presence of God in
daily experiences and distinguish his voice as he calls us.
1.2 The Master Lover (Paying closer attention to God’s perfect
love in Scriptures and in Creation)
It is in the Sacred Scriptures and in all of Creation that God reveals
himself as Creator, Provider and Master Lover. Through the Scriptures,
God makes known his will to humankind, his life-giving covenant, and
his personal call (vocation) to each person. This track aims to help
the discerner get closely and deeply in touch with God through the
Sacred Scriptures.
1.3 The Unfolding of the Mystery of Life (Who am I?)
As the discerner learns to discover and know more about God and his
active presence in life, she/he will begin to know more about herself/himself
especially in relation to God and to others.
1.4 The ‘Yes’ of Mary ... the ‘Yes’ to Life
(The Discernment Process
of Mary)
In knowing who God is in one’s life and in discovering the mystery of
oneself, the discerner begins to develop a relationship with his/her
Master Lover. But it is in saying ‘Yes’ (a free assent or consent)
that one is led to a deeper and more intimate relationship with God.
1.5 I will always be here...
(Trust as a sign of a deeper and loving intimacy with God)
And the more one assents, the more one is led to total trust. Yes,
trust is a
sign of a deeper and a more intimate relationship with God.
