TRACK 3  A Unitive Journey Glory to the Spirit (the Life; the Sanctifier)

If the whole life of Jesus Christ is a proposal of divine truths, the Holy Spirit keeps them and makes them understandable and useful. If Jesus Christ has obtained grace by redeeming it, the Holy Spirit applies it to us in sanctification, by communicating it to each one. (DF 67).

Charity, spread in the hearts by the work of the Holy Spirit, forms three diffusions: it brings light with the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit; it warms hearts with the seven gifts of the twelve fruits of the Spirit and it transforms persons with the eight beatitudes (Apostolato Stampa pp.32-33). The spiritual journey towards continuously uniting ourselves to Christ or Christification brings about immense abundance of grace and light.

The stage of the Unitive Journey focuses on LIVING OUR HEART’S DESIRE, and specifically on the Decision Making Process

Here we have reached a stage of intimacy where we allow Christ to live fully in us: one in heart, soul, body and mind, and we share the same life and love to others. We now begin to focus our life to the only Way, Truth and Life, develop a sense of thankfulness and achieve the fullness of freedom where we can say with St. Paul: “It is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me.”

At this stage, we hope to lead the discerner to: a) identify his / her greatest desire and passion for God and for others; b) achieve enough freedom to fulfill this desire and passion c) to focus and center his / her life until Christ is formed in the person.

The Sub-tracks for ‘Living our Heart’s Desire’ consist in the following:

3.1 An Authentic Passion  (A Unitive Encounter with the God of Passion)

Christ is God’s passionate kiss to humanity. His passion was a complete yielding to the will of God. Jesus Christ has passionately abandoned himself on the Cross out of ardent love for God and for each person. And this level of passion blows us away in a self-giving and selfless love for all those whom we encounter daily. Holding nothing back, we can love others as passionately as God loves them. Such passion requires complete surrender and freedom. Something which St Paul had.

3.2 Freedom and Surrender  (A Defining Moment in Life)

Freedom and surrender are defining moments not only in the discernment process but in life. We realize who we are before Christ with all our strengths and weaknesses, then we are able to freely surrender our total trust to him and face the greatest challenge, that is, FREEDOM FROM ONESELF. St Peter incarnates this for us.

3.3. Empowering our Heart’s Desire  (Affirming the God in us)
In freedom, we are empowered. Being empowered involves a great affirmation. It is in being affirmed that we recognize the value of something in relation to oneself. Having realized our defining moments, we are now affirmed to empower our heart’s desire.
