7. Women with universal hearts – listening with Ruth(Ru 1:14-18)

 Ruth: Her courage surpassed the historical context, and she was able to see beyond the horizon of Moab, her land of origin…Soon she would realize that every people could be her people if she herself took the initiative to seek that which is good and just, the profound desires common to all people.
Scholastica: In 1948 Fr. Alberione proposed that Mother Scholastica go to Buenos Aires, in Argentina, as Novice Mistress, that is as guide for the young women preparing for the religious life.  Later she was asked to organize new forms of apostolate at the service of the liturgy, such as the preparation of vestments and furnishings, for which she had the experience and capability.  In every case she accepted everything with docility, forgetting self and contentedly offering to God whatever he asked of her.  She remained there, except for brief intervals, until 1963.

Madre Scolastica Rivata: la sua testimonianza profetica per il mondo di oggi

 ROMA, domenica 15 luglio 2012 (ZENIT).- Nella costellazione della santità della Famiglia Paolina è anche inserita la Serva di Dio Madre Scolastica Rivata. E’ nata 115 anni fa - il 12 luglio 1897 - e celebra quest’anno il 25° del suo dies natalis. Nel 1924 il beato Giacomo Alberione sceglie la giovane Orsola, che assumerà il nome di Suor Scolastica della Divina Provvidenza, per dare vita alle Pie Discepole del Divin Maestro. Una donna senza lauree e diplomi ma con la sapienza attinta quotidianamente, fin dall’adolescenza, alla fonte dell’Eucaristia. Ha accolto, fatto nascere e crescere, in mezzo a tante prove, il carisma di una nuova istituzione, in uno stile di silenzio e di nascondimento ma con il timbro di “donna di comunicazione”.
