It was the post-conciliar period, the time for the preparation for our Special General Chapter, celebrated in 1969, was rapidly approaching. During the Spiritual Exercises for the Sisters responsible for the communities and the elderly sisters (Ariccia, May 8-16, 1967) Mother M. Lucia Ricci wrote to Mother M. Scholastica:
“Thank you for your beautiful and useful resolutions. The majority of it can serve as material for the Questionnaire of the Special Chapter. I ask that you, if possible, tomorrow, Wednesday the 10th at 9:15AM, conduct the conference of the Retreat – always on the theme: “Renewal of the religious life” with the spontaneity which is characteristic for you. I thank you on behalf of all the sisters. Sr. Maria Lucia”.
Very spontaneously Mother M. Scholastica conducted the conference. She prepared a written outline for herself that is still relevant today in the area of hospitality and assimilation of the renewed text of the Rule of Life.Let us read this message of our “first Mother”:

“There is a growing interest on the part of the Pious Disciples and others”, wrote the Postulator, Fr. Antonio da Silva, “for a better knowledge of the Servant of God, Mother Scholastica Rivata, and an increase in the requests for materials regarding her teachings. Mother Scholastica never wrote a book, but she produced a vast amount of correspondence. Her letters were handwritten or personally typed. They did not have an instructional purpose, but sought to resolve the practical questions of the moment. It is precisely for this reason that they are filled with references to daily life and interspersed with reflections and precious teachings. From here rises and grows the desire to become more acquainted with the writings of Mother Scholastica…”
With this heartfelt desire, two Pious Disciples who frequented the program on the Charism of the Pauline Family 2007-2008 prepared their final thesis by studying some of the letters of Mother Scholastica.
Sr Analice Lúcia Balestrin, Epistolario di Madre Scolastica Rivata. Lettere di Madre M. Scolastica Rivata a Sr. M. Ignazia Biello (1932 —1936), Formation Course on the Charism of the Pauline Family 2003-2004.
Sr Maria Aparecida Batista: UNA DONNA DEL VANGELO MADRE SCOLASTICA RIVATA. Dal libro “Le Donne del Vangelo” alle lettere a Madre Lucia Ricci 1945 - 1948. Formation Course on the Charism of the Pauline Family 2007-2008.
Sr M. Alejandra Mencía: Madre Scolastica, modello di vita. Formation Course on the Charism of the Pauline Family 2007-2008.
Another study of the sources available was done this year by Sr. M. Pace Kang in her paper: “Madre M. Scolastica Rivata, Modello di formazione”. This is a precious work for the Korean province since it offers the Korean translation of the letters to Sr. M. Ignazia Biello. Formation Course on the Charism of the Pauline Family 2007-2008.
Also Sr. M. Anna R. Tinampay, who prepared the paper on “Processo di Cristificazione nel Donec Formetur e nella Regola di Vita PDDM”, presented in her conclusion “Mother M. Scholastica, model of the Pious Disciples of the Divine Master”. Formation Course on the Charism of the Pauline Family 2008-2009.

Through the collaboration of a Pious Disciple, Sr. M. Andreina Alfero, and a Daughter of St. Paul, Sr. Luisa Damonte, a small book was published in 2005[1]: Women for the Gospel, A spiritual itinerary for youth
It is an itinerary consisting of eight stages, in the footsteps of some of the most fascinating biblical women, accompanied by two “women for the Gospel” of our day: Sr. Tecla Merlo and Sr. Scholastica Rivata. Each stage opens with a Scriptural theme to be developed, followed by: “their” story and “your story” and a guideline for Adoration. In this article we will include the theme for each chapter and the proposal for Sr. Scholastica. It is useful to insert her figure within the great picture of the history of salvation as a stimulus toward actualization.

At Sanfre’, in the room in which Mother M. Scholastica spent the last years of her life and from which she departed for her final voyage, there is a register in which visitors can write their intentions or reflections. Leafing through these pages we perceive how Mother M. Scholastica continues to be experienced as a living person, to whom they ask assistance that she may intercede with the Divine Master for the countless needs of those who still journey on this earth. It is an affectionate, simple and confident communication filled with the warmth of a “family” dialogue, which enlivens the heart.
Relatives of the sisters, acquaintances, occasional visitors often leave requests for protection for their family, for the path of their children, for health:

On October 23, 2007, a day within the novena in preparation for the Solemnity of Jesus Master, will remain in history as the day in which Mother M. Scholastica Rivata, the first Pious Disciple of the Divine Master, the first Mother of the new Congregation willed by Blessed James Alberione in 1924 within the admirable Pauline Family, silently received the “obedience of the transfer” from Alba to Rome.
It was one of the initiatives programmed for the Year of Mother Scholastica. Fr. Antonio da Silva ssp, Postulator General of the Pauline Family began the process with the competent ecclesiastical and civil authorities. He received favorable responses from His Excellency Msgr. Sebastiano Dho, Bishop of Alba; from Cardinal Camillo Ruini, Vicar of the Pope for the Diocese of Rome. His Eminence Cardinal Jose’ Saraiva Martins, Prefect for the Congregation of the Causes of the Saints, gave his authorization for the transfer of the mortal remains of Mother M. Scholastica Rivata from the cemetery of Alba to the Church of Jesus Master.
