And the Word became Flesh (cf. Jn 1:14) and through the centuries has been proclaimed, sown, and spread throughout the world, in quick steps, in slow steps, with constancy and creativity. It is a word that has never tired of speeding forward and in reaching our day is transformed into poetry, art and music through Sr. Ver\u00f4nica Firmino.<\/p>\n

That the Word of the Lord may speed forward<\/strong>\u00a0(2 Th. 3:1) is the title of her song (made possible in different versions through collaborators). The refrain, once heard and repeated, makes us desire to “speed forward” to proclaim the Gospel with one\u2019s life, in the style of Paul, constant in the midst of joy and pain. And again the various Pauline exhortations, collected and clothed in musical and poetic language, fill our hearts and we spontaneously begin to sing: “That the Word of the Lord may speed forward…”, thus entering into the same dynamic as the Apostle, who elsewhere gives us his secret: “And I will most gladly spend and be spent for your sakes” (2 Co. 12:15). The Apostle does not tire and does not spare himself! And we too “speed forward” as we hasten to bring the Kingdom of God to all.<\/p>\n

This hymn announces the humble power of the Word. The word of God became flesh is the Lord Jesus who frees, guides, comforts, gives true peace of heart.<\/p>\n

The author, father Paolo Lanzoni, a Pauline priest and musician, was inspired by the comment of Bishop Saint Ambrose in Ps 37 (36), 30: “Let’s therefore speak of the Lord Jesus, because He is Wisdom, he is the Word, He is the Word of God.\u2026 Whoever echoes his speeches and meditates on his words, spreads them. We always talk about him \u00bb.<\/p>\n

The song is joyful, suitable for the celebrations of the Word that in the Biblical Year, particular care and prominence. The video is made by the Choir of the University Church of San Frediano (Pisa) and expresses the beauty of putting together the voices, the skills, the search for the meaning of life, in one great work: the proclamation of the Word!<\/p>\n

We all need true, authentic words that are “spoken to life”. These new words of peace and fraternity flow from listening to the living Word which is Christ Jesus. It is the encounter with him that we want to live and renew together in this Pauline Biblical Year.<\/p>\n

“When we speak of wisdom, it is Jesus we speak of, so when we speak of virtue, when we speak of justice, when we speak of peace, when we speak of truth, of life, of redemption, it is Jesus that we speak of” (Saint Ambrose ).<\/p>\n

The hymn takes takes up the theme of the biblical year (2Ts 3,1-5), and has as its background the text of the new commandment of Jn 13: 34-35: By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you will have love for one another.<\/p>\n

It begins with the verse of exhortation addressed to the “brothers” of the community, and therefore to each of us; the first: pray; the second: love each other; the third: forgive yourselves, in a crescendo of love that reaches forgiveness as a pure gift of the Spirit and the Word that runs and rests on every heart.<\/p>\n

The refrain repeated six times is an announcement and a testimony of faith and hope in a world impoverished of values, which needs more “witnesses” than “teachers”: You Jesus are the Word, the Word of the Father. We believe in you, we hope in you, come and stay with us!<\/p>\n

With Jesus, Word of the Father, Word made flesh, heaven opened and remained forever the Spirit of Love who wants to find flesh in us, God’s letter written in our life, as Paul says: You are a letter from Christ (2 Cor 3,3).<\/p>\n

In the Eucharistic celebration it could be performed as an entrance hymn especially for that: “Come and stay with us” but also as a hymn of communion if the Gospel proclaimed speaks of love and forgiveness.<\/p>\n

The hymn composed by Fr Boguslaw Zeman for the Biblical Year of the Pauline Family tells of a true encounter between two living realities – the person and the Word -, an encounter built on dialogue, almost a whisper, interwoven with delicacy, welcome and intimacy. The Word responds to the free approach of the person, letting himself be encountered. One hands over to the other and they reveal themselves to each other. The familiarity and the thirst for mutual acquaintance grows; the prophecy is revived, the passion for humanity confirmed and the window on the world opens.<\/p>\n

The experience becomes the seed of a deep desire: to commit oneself, with all one’s strength, “So that the Word may run! Word which is Life, Light, Grace, Love, Peace! \u00bb.<\/p>\n

These are some of the thoughts and feelings that emerge from listening to the hymn, composed and interpreted by Fr Boguslaw with the simplicity and transparency of children.<\/p>\n
