The manger
Christmas. I am looking at the carved manger, where the shepherds have just arrived at the poor stable of Bethlehem. Also the Magi in their long garments greet the powerful King of the world. Peace in the fiction and in the silence of the wooden figures: see the elders of the village and the shining star, and the donkey colored blue. Peace in the heart of Christ in eternity; but there is no peace in the human heart. Even with Christ, and it has been twenty centuries, brother attacks brother. Is there anyone who hears the cry of the infant who will die upon the cross between two thieves? (Salvatore Quasimodo)
Dear Sisters,
young women who live in our communities
to learn with us to become disciples of Jesus Master Way, Truth and Life,
Friends of Jesus Master with whom we collaborate in the mission of the Church,
the celebration of the Birth of the Lord in the Flesh
and the beginning of the New Year is approaching.
With the words of the Italian poet, who contemplates the manger
and questions himself about the message of peace, which continues to go unheard in the world,
I wish you a Holy Christmas and New Year.
With the desire that in this year, in which we celebrate the Jubilee of the centennial of the foundation of the Institute, each one may contribute toward rendering the message of the Angels over the grotto of Bethlehem more authentic:
“Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to the people whom God loves.”
