PDDM Philippines–Taiwan–Hong Kong: First Provincial Assembly
A Journey of Communion, Discernment, and Hope
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of their foundation, the Pious Disciples of the Divine Master of the Philippines, Taiwan, and Hong Kong experienced a significant moment in their history with the celebration of the First Provincial Assembly, held at Alberione House in Antipolo City, Philippines. The Assembly took place in two sessions: from July 18 to 23, 2026, and from August 13 to 16, 2026, involving a total of 94 sisters, 47 in each group, according to their apostolic commitments and the different realities of their communities.
An Assembly Born of Listening and Discernment
The convocation was a concrete response to the suggestion of the Superior General, Sr. M. Bernardita Meraz Sotelo. After careful reflection in prayer by the Provincial Council, the decision matured to experience, for the first time, this important moment of sharing, listening, and communion.
The Assembly focused on four fundamental areas: the institutional and administrative affairs of the Province; an exploration of the four “Stars” of Interculturality, Mission, Integral and Ongoing Formation, and Discernment as a Way of Life; provincial discernment regarding the property of the Alberione Center in Quezon City; and liturgical formation and updating of the sisters.
Looking at Reality with Gratitude and Hope
Guided by the four Stars of the 10th General Chapter and by the Final Message of the Superior General at the conclusion of her fraternal visit, the participants deepened their understanding of the reality of the Province through presentations by Fr. Mariano Agruda, III, OCD, and Sr. Agnes Wong, MMB.
This journey enabled the sisters to look at the current situation of the Province with gratitude, humbly recognizing the lights and shadows of the path already traveled and identifying, with hope, the steps to be taken for the future.
Particularly meaningful was the message of Sr. M. Bernardita Meraz Sotelo, who emphasized the value of the Assembly as a formative and discernment space, where all the sisters can reflect together on what is important for the entire Province and open themselves to new horizons of personal, community, and apostolic growth, as they participate in the life of the pilgrim Church in the Philippines, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
A Grace to Welcome and Continue
The experience of the Assembly was lived as a true time of grace, characterized by mutual listening, reflection, synodal discernment, and communion.
With grateful hearts, the Pious Disciples entrust their future journey to the Lord, trusting in His mercy and grace. They ask Him for the strength to persevere and to cooperate faithfully in the work that He Himself has begun through this First Provincial Assembly.
