PDDM Japan: Golden Jubilee of Religious Profession
On Sunday, June 7th, the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, a Eucharistic celebration was held at the House of Hachioji in Tokyo to mark the Golden Jubilee of Religious Profession of Sr. M. Luigina Akabae, pddm, Sr. M. Consilia Taniyama, pddm, and Sr. M. Mercede Nakagawa, pddm. The celebration was presided over by His Eminence Cardinal Isao Kikuchi and concelebrated by Fr. Hidetoshi Ishiwaki.
Participating in the celebration were the sisters from the Tokyo communities, the jubilarians’ family members and relatives, the Pauline Cooperators–FDM, and the Sisters of the Daughters of St. Paul. It was a solemn and joyful occasion of thanksgiving to the Lord.
In his homily, Cardinal Kikuchi recalled that religious men and women are called not to live for themselves, but to bear witness to the beauty and joy of a life lived according to the Gospel. He also encouraged everyone, even in the face of challenges such as the aging of members and the decline in vocations, to trust in the guidance of the Holy Spirit, remain open to new encounters, and continue witnessing to the Gospel with hope and confidence.
In a serene and family-like atmosphere, the festive gathering following the celebration was enlivened by songs and presentations prepared by the various communities. Cardinal Kikuchi also fraternally shared in this joyful moment, which concluded with his blessing.
Heartfelt congratulations and the gratitude of the Congregation are extended to the dear jubilarians for their faithful witness of consecration and service. May the Lord Jesus Master continue to bless them and fill them with His grace, granting them health, serenity, and joy as they continue their vocational journey.
