PDDM United States: The month of September has been a particularly grace-filled time for the Pious Disciples of the Divine Master in the United States. The communities experienced significant moments that allowed them to recognize in their history God’s faithful presence and the beauty of a life given in service.
In this spirit of renewal, the communities of Boston, Los Angeles, and Fresno welcomed their new local superiors: Sr. M. Clare Tovio in Boston, Sr. M. Emmanuel Kwak in Los Angeles, and Sr. M. Nieves Salinas in Fresno. Each of them has been entrusted with the task of guiding her community with dedication and passion. The sisters support them with their prayers, invoking upon them the light of the Lord.
75 Years of Life and Mission in Fresno
On September 21, 2026, the Fresno community experienced a memorable day, celebrating the 75th anniversary of its foundation and the 65th anniversary of the religious profession of Sr. M. Dolores Mamamoto and Sr. M. Angela Chavez. It was a celebration filled with gratitude, in which the past and the present came together in recognition of God’s faithfulness.
Throughout these 75 years, numerous Pious Disciples have generously offered their lives through prayer and service, leaving a witness that continues to live on in the community and in its mission.
The joy of the celebration was shared with friends of the community and with many benefactors whose generosity and friendship have accompanied and strengthened the presence of the Pious Disciples in Fresno over the years. Their closeness represents a precious gift and a concrete participation in the mission.
During the homily, Bishop Joseph Brennan, Bishop of the Diocese of Fresno, expressed his gratitude to the sisters for their presence in the diocese, for their dedication throughout these 75 years, and for their constant witness of faith and charity.
Seeds That Continue to Bear Fruit
The celebration offered an opportunity to look back on this history with gratitude. Seventy-five years ago, small seeds were planted: the presence of a few sisters willing to give of themselves without reserve. Over the years, those seeds grew through the lives of many sisters who knew how to love with simplicity, quietly building a legacy of faith, communion, and service.
The 75th anniversary thus becomes not only a remembrance of the past but also a reason for hope for the future. God’s faithfulness, recognized throughout this history, invites the sisters to continue living the present with trust and to look toward the future with open hearts.
With gratitude for the journey undertaken and for all those who have been part of it, the Pious Disciples of the Divine Master entrust the future of the Fresno community and of the other communities in the United States to the Lord, so that the seeds planted with so much love may continue to grow and flourish for the benefit of future generations.
